A frustration our founder knows well
Trained as an engineer but drawn to the bigger picture, Joshua wanted to move into consulting and found there was no map. So he taught himself. He bought books, picked up the business vocabulary, and learned to explain technical things simply and clearly. For days he mapped his past experience onto the new requirements, discovering strengths he'd never recognized as such. The rest he practiced: telling his story so that HR looked past the gaps in his CV and understood his motivation.
In the end, he made it. But he would have wanted support along the way. And so a question stayed with him: why isn't there a place that makes this easier? For years it lived as a recurring entry in his innovation diary, one idea among many. That idea became Utably.
